February Meals on Wheels

February is Kingswood’s month for Wheeling Township’s Meals on Wheels deliveries. Meals on Wheels brings a warm meal to people who are elderly and homebound. Meals are picked up at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights at 11:00 am on delivery days.

All dates are now full. Please contact Kate Lapetino (klapetino@kingswoodumc.com) if you want to be on the sub list in case of cancellation.

Annual Mitten Tree Collection

The cold weather is coming! As part of our ongoing commitment to serve local schools, we will collect children’s hats, gloves, mittens, and socks for Oak Terrace, Kilmer, Twain, and Whitman Schools. Give the gift of warmth in anticipation of the winter season as we care for elementary school students in our communities. Items can be dropped off at the Mitten Trees in Buffalo Grove and Deerfield between October 18 and November 30.

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry at the Buffalo Grove campus provides food on an emergency basis to families and individuals from Wheeling Township, which includes surrounding suburbs.  Through the generous donations of food items from Kingswood and other community members, we are able to serve 40-60 families each week.

PADS Homeless Ministry

PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is a serving ministry of Kingswood Church, seeking to provide temporary shelter, meals, and support for our brothers and sisters without homes and housing.  We have opportunities to serve in both Buffalo Grove and Deerfield.

New Beginnings Thrift Store

New Beginnings (NB) Thrift Store is an on-site shop next door to Kingswood at Manna House on the Buffalo Grove campus.  The NB Thrift Store has a dual mission: to give back to Kingswood by raising funds for its ministries, and to give back to the wider community by offering a financially accessible, welcoming place to shop.
