Music Ministry

Praise the Lord!  Sing unto the Lord a new song.  Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!  Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!  Praise him with loud clashing cymbals!  Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!  Psalm 149-150. 

Kingswood United Methodist Church has always been known for its music ministry.  Music sets the tone for a meaningful worship experience.  It helps connect us with God.  The hymns help us to articulate our faith.  The scriptures above show our need for worship and music.  

How can you help?  Yes, you are the recipient of the music ministry, but you can also be a participant.  These choirs are open to anyone interested in singing or ringing.  We cordially invite you to come and join us. 

CHANCEL CHOIR

Chancel choir sings each Sunday at the 9:00 service from September through the first Sunday of June. 

This group rehearses in the sanctuary on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm-8:45pm.  Special music is done on Christmas Eve at the 11:00 service and in June. 

KINGSMEN

This is a men’s choir that sings one Sunday each month for both the 9:00 and 10:30 services.

The men rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 8:45pm-9:15pm in the sanctuary.

ALLELUS

Allelus is a women’s choir that sings one Sunday each month for both the 9:00 and 10:30 services.  This group rehearses on Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00.  They occasionally perform programs in the community, and so also do some popular and secular music.

ADULT BELLS

The handbell choir rings one Sunday each month for both 9:00 and 10:30 services.  This choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm-7:30pm.

GLORY RINGERS

Glory Ringers is the bell choir for children and youth ages 9 through 12th grade.  They ring one Sunday each month at the 9:00 and 10:30 services.  Rehearsal is on Mondays from 7:00pm-7:45pm, September through May.

PRAISE BAND
The Jesus Experience is a growing 10-piece contemporary band that leads monthly Praise & Worship services at Kingswood.  The Praise & Worship services are Sunday evenings from 6-7PM, generally the 3rd, 4th or 5th Sunday of the month.The Jesus Experience is a mix of young and young-at-heart amateur musicians covering a wide spectrum of basic (guitar, keyboard, drums, brass, strings etc.) and unusual instruments (hammered dulcimer, water glasses etc.) that produce their unique sound.  Practice is in the sanctuary every other Sunday from 4:30-6PM.  The schedule occasionally changes so please contact Jim Koppenhaver (847.612.6717) if you're interested in joining.
