Handel’s Messiah Concert
The Chancel Choir of Kingswood United Methodist Church will perform the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 17th at both 9:00 am and 10:30 am services. The 10-piece Metropolis Chamber Orchestra will accompany the 25+ choir and soloists under the direction of Music Director, Randy Lawrence. The orchestra includes leading members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra, Lake Forest Symphony and the Haymarket Opera Company. Soloist include members of the church and Chicago Master Singers. Handel’s Messiah is one of the best-known and most often-performed choral works in Western music. Composed in 1741 with a scriptural text in English, it was the first oratorio that presented the drama of human redemption as an epic poem. The Christmas portion contains some of the most familiar choruses and solos, including For Unto Us a Child is Born, Rejoice Greatly O Daughter of Zion, and Hallelujah.

Christmas Program and Spaghetti Dinner

Join us on Sunday, December 10th and experience the highlight of the advent season. This is a wonderful family event as we celebrate “Frosty the Snowman’s Christmas Countdown”. The evening will include the spaghetti dinner, special musical performances, caroling, Children’s Cherub Choir, Frosty the Snowman’s Christmas Countdown performed by the Glory Finger and the children’s live nativity reenactment. 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Spaghetti dinner seating. $5 per person or $20 per family; 5:45 pm: Caroling in the sanctuary; 6:15 pm: Frosty’s Christmas Countdown and Children’s Nativity. Please invite your family and friends to this special Christmas celebration. Sign-up sheets for the spaghetti dinner are available during Sunday morning coffee fellowship. Blue Christmas Service

Join us on Monday, December 18, for our annual Blue Christmas service. The service is focused for those who have lost loved ones, who find the holidays less than cheerful due to grief and struggle, or just need a quiet place to slow the pace. The service begins at 7:00pm in the sanctuary. A time of support and sharing with refreshments will follow after the service in the Fireside Room for those who wish to stay. Christmas Eve Service 

Join us on Sunday morning, December 24, as we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent with carols, women’s choir, special music and fellowship. We will then offer a Family Christmas Eve service at 4:30pm focused for children with a special story time, gifts for all children, carols, and candles. Our Traditional 10:30pm Christmas Eve service will include brass, choirs, and bells as well as candles, communion, and carols.
